deep in your eyes is a promise love can be ours if we want it starting tonight ev'ry dream i ever knew here in your arms i'm believing fin'lly my life has a meaning of its own here in the land of loving i am home
i was alone in the city searchin' for someone to find me cold empty nights and a million strangers' eyes here in your arms i'm beginning to leave behind all the loneliness i knew here in the land of loving there is you...
in this simple room magic is made though the world seems unchanged leave the lights on i'm a little afraid this might be just a sweet dream...
deep in the night love is growing
though i had no way of knowing that when i found you i found ev'rything I need here in your love i'll be staying fin'lly my life won't be living all alone here in the land of the loving i am home...
***
i have learned that no matter what pains and heartaches you go through, as the proverbial saying goes, there will always be light at the end of the dark tunnel.... a reward for all the sacrifices... a million of things to be happy about for every sadness and tear that fell... and if you're lucky, a true and genuine love waiting with open arms in the land of the loving...
sometimes love comes to us in the most unexpected time, ways, or places. and yes, at times when you have already come to terms with yourself and gathered all your senses to realize that you do not need love in your life to really be happy. romantic love, that is. when it seems that the love of family and friends are more than enough to fill your cup of emptiness, it suddenly overflows with more love than you ever expected and are ready for.
God teaches in the most unique of ways... at times He wants us to accept harsh realities of life first before He gives us what we deserve. as long as we are still stubborn and hardheaded, we will commit the same mistakes over and over again until we learn. we have to be broken into pieces first, before we can be whole again. but, putting back all the shattered pieces of yourself will not be an easy task. you can only do this if you have truly learned.
i have loved this song almost my entire life... and i never thought i would fully understand what it says until now. now i can say i am finally home...
go, the lights are low in here i close my eyes and breathe inside your arms i lie and i cry
love, i don't know what am doin' wrong just tell me what you mean don't go, i've given everything
tell me everything's alright don't tell me its not right and ask me to let go if loving you is all i know don't leave me in the cold without you its not better without you nothing matters nothing matters...
here i lie and i don't try to hide the love and still i die, it's something you don't feel
there's no use in walking out the door it's something to fight for but tomorrow i love you so much more...
tell me everything's alright don't tell me its not right and ask me to let go if loving you is all i know don't leave me in the cold without you its not better without you nothing matters nothing matters...

and so it's another teleserye song.... funny how i find nice songs from teleseryes. although i knew from sometime ago that alessandra de rossi has been singing and recording songs, i have never heard this song yet. it caught my attention one night while watching "green rose," a remake of a koreanovela, with my mom. so, i searched for alessandra's songs and i wasn't surprised to find it in youtube.
i have listened to almost all of alessandra's songs on youtube, and i can say that she isn't a bad singer. she isn't that good either, but she can carry a tune. reminds me of when i first heard gwyneth paltrow sing with huey lewis in that duet from a movie they did. both ladies have their own style of singing, and each style is definitely all her own.
of all the songs of alessandra's on youtube, this particular song has promise. it may even be a hit if given a proper promotion. it has the formula of the typical broken hearted love songs that "pinoys" are very much fond of. and the "masa" would identify with this song more than her other songs. anyhow, i also like her version of christopher cross' "sailing." it has this kinda ethereal sound. and oh, the music video is also excellent! it matches the ethereal mood of the song.
kudos to alessandra de rossi for further exploring her artistic talents. hope to hear more songs from you.

am i better off dead, am i better off a quitter they say i’m better off now, than i ever was with her as they take me to my local down the street i’m smiling but i’m dying trying not to drag my feet
they say a few drinks will help me to forget her but after one too many i know that i’m never only they can see where this is gonna end they all think i’m crazy but to me it’s perfect sense
and my mates are all there trying to calm me down cause i’m shouting your name all over town i’m swearing if i go there now i can change your mind turn it all around and i know that i’m drunk but i’ll say the words and she’ll listen this time even though they’re slurred dial her number and confess to her i’m still in love but all i heard was nothing (nothing, nothing …)
so i stumble there, along the railings and the fences i know if i’m face to face that she’ll come to her senses every drunk step i take leads me to her door if she sees how much i’m hurting she’ll take me back for sure
and my mates are all there trying to calm me down cause i’m shouting your name all over town i’m swearing if i go there now i can change your mind turn it all around and i know that i’m drunk but i’ll say the words and she’ll listen this time even though they’re slurred dial her number and confess to her i’m still in love but all i heard was nothing...
she said nothing oh i wanted words but all i heard was nothing oh i got nothing nothing... i got nothing nothing... oh i wanted words but all i heard was nothing
oh sometimes love is intoxicating oh you're coming down your hands are shaking when you realise there's no one waiting...

carry on and bear the happy load on a dusty road gotta win the race even though the road is hard gotta be certain
like the black bird flyin' in the night what's he lookin' for searchin' for the way even though the road is hard gotta be certain
it's a typical dream that's neverendin' burnin' inside of a soul gotta follow this dream and watch your bendin'
through the dark years don't you stray away from the dusty road just keep it goin' on even though the road is hard gotta be certain
lots'a people are gonna put you down does it bother you? don't let them change your mind even though the road is hard gotta be certain
it's a typical dream that's neverendin' burnin' inside of a soul gotta follow this dream and watch your bendin'
typical dream that's neverendin' burnin' inside of a soul gotta follow this dream yeah...
and keep your feelings on the mood when you know the fight is over and you can't tell them all if you wanna get where you're goin' don't get dust on the road...
need no help now gotta burn and have them know loneliness forgotten now am back on the road
gonna keep my feelings movin' gonna keep it goin' on leave the things forgotten won't get dust on the road
steppin' down movin' right along loneliness forgotten don't get lost on the road...
i saw the video of this song posted on a friend's facebook account and was surprised to learn that mike francis has died already 2 years ago... he died?!!! he was just 47. i am genuinely sad.... =(
mike francis is one of the artists who has been a part of my journey through music and life. i think i like almost all of his songs, and this is one of my favorites. i used to have a cassette tape copy of his songs, which reminds me that i have to add at least one of his albums to my list of "cds to buy." now i guess i won't have the chance to see him perform here in manila. now that i can already afford to go to concerts. yeah right...
well anyway, thank you for being with me through your songs, and helping me get through those times. now that you have gotten over your "dusty road," i hope you're now making angels singin' with you:
steppin' down movin' right along loneliness forgotten don't get lost on the road...
when the rain is blowing in your face and the whole world is on your case i could offer you a warm embrace to make you feel my love
when the evening shadows and the stars appear and there is no one there to dry your tears i could hold you for a million years to make you feel my love
i know you haven't made your mind up yet but i would never do you wrong i've known it from the moment that we met no doubt in my mind where you belong
i'd go hungry i'd go black and blue i'd go crawling down the avenue no there's nothing that i wouldn't do to make you feel my love
the storms are raging on the rolling sea and on the highway of regret though winds of change are blowing wild and free you ain't seen nothing like me yet
i could make you happy make your dreams come true nothing that i wouldn't do go to the ends of the earth for you to make you feel my love
to make you feel my love...

hello my bloggie! i missed you so much. i was so busy with life that i forget to fill you with all that's going on. maybe it was just too overwhelming for me to be flying here and there that my thoughts can't get organized to write a decent post. or maybe being in a foreign land can't get my mind settled. i don't know, really... but to put it simply... i just can't write that time. period.

i've been hearing this song on the radio for quite a while already, but i haven't really been paying attention to it. it caught my attention when i watched a video on youtube about a wedding, having this song as a wedding march. i don't remember anymore how i came to find the video though, but it has been going around facebook for quite some time too.
i never really bothered to understand the lyrics of this song either, but while watching that wedding march video at youtube, i caught some of its lyrics. i tried to understand the lyrics to know why the couple picked the song as their wedding march. well why not? i heard such lines as: "it's like i waited my whole life for this one night, it's gonna be you and me and the dancefloor." oh yeah, most people wait their whole lives to finally tie the knot, isn't it? or just to find that one person they want to spend their whole lives with.
imagine a danceable tune for a wedding march... and of course, what kind of march do you expect? whoa! everybody danced their way to the altar of course! it was so cool, i swear. it even gave me goosebumps. i dunno why.
am not much of a dancing person, but i found the video very nice. while watching it, i was thinking that the usual solemnity we expect from a wedding doesn't always come in a very peaceful ceremony. like in this wedding for instance, even though the mood is very joyous and festive, i don't know why i felt a certain solemnity. maybe it's because i can see that the couple is truly happy about their union. it's not all the time you see that in couples getting married. i saw the genuine happiness that couples wanting to spend their lives together should exude.
i may never get married, but it's good to know that even if i don't i can say that am truly happy and i guess i may be in that state forever...
i was supposed to post this last friday, but i wasn't able to finish writing it since work was dismissed early. but i guess it's just timely and the delay is for the best. in the course of events this long weekend, i just realized few things again... that people really do just come in our lives for a reason. they don't come just because... or just for nothing.
i am glad to know that i have made good decisions in the past, and the right ones at that. it was good that i have realized who people really are early, so that i wouldn't waste much of my precious time with them. in fact, i even find more and more reasons to validate my past decisions further more... thank God that i have done the right things! even if i may have started with a wrong foot at times, at least am proud to have ended things right and with a clear conscience.
people at times are too good to be true... they don't really seem who they are when they are with you. sometimes, you come to know better of them when they are far away from you. and this makes you think and say: "hell, i am really glad you're out of my life!" ...oh, and am much happy now... really! am better off with no liars and people who pretend they really care for you when they actually don't. people who suck big time behind your back.
anyhow, enough wasting blog space for worthless things. i guess, we sometimes have to meet the wrong and worst people there are to prepare us for our true happiness... that makes us realize and see things we haven't seen before.
"it’s like i waited my whole life for this one night it’s gonna be me you and the dance floor..."
i don't really dance... but ya, am willing to dance my whole life with you....
if i should die this very moment i wouldn't fear for i've never known completeness like being here wrapped in the warmth of you loving every breath of you still my heart this moment or it might burst could we stay right here until the end of time until the earth stops turning wanna love you 'till the seas run dry i've found the one i've waited for
all this time i've loved you and never known your face all this time i've missed you and searched this human race here is true peace here my heart knows calm safe in your soul bathed in your sighs wanna stay right here until the end of time 'til the earth stops turning gonna love you until the seas run dry i've found the one i've waited for
the one i've waited for
all i've known all i've done all i've felt was leading to this all i've known all i've done all i've felt was leading to this wanna stay right here 'til' the end of time 'till the earth stops turning i'm gonna love you till the seas run dry i've found the one I've waited for the one i've waited for the one i've waited for
wanna stay right here 'til the end of time 'till the earth stops turning i'm gonna love you till the seas run dry i've found the one i've waited for the one i've waited for the one i've waited for
it's been a long while since i have blogged again... there may be so many topics to write about or songs to post, but i couldn't find myself to write. the things that have happened in the past weeks have left me first, dumbfounded, then in deep contemplation.
i have always known that life is short. death can come to anyone at anytime. but i never imagined myself dying tragically. as dramatic or artistic as i may seem to be, i don't desire neither a dramatic nor artistic ending. if i can choose my own, i want it as simple, as silent, and as painless as it can be.
but even those who drowned and left with Ondoy and Pepeng must have also wished a happy and peaceful kind of dying. they, too, never thought that they would pass that way. and if i was one of them, would i be ready? i never feared dying, per se. but would i be ready for a death as sudden? and as helpless? see, i never really learned how to swim. i can float and manage a few strokes, yes. but these meager skills can't save me from drowning from the floods of Ondoy or Pepeng. much as i wanted passing on peacefully, what would i do in such a situation? how 'bout my loved ones, would i be able to help them?
living life is already hard in itself. i don't understand why dying can be as hard or even harder. what's with all the things happening around us nowadays?!? killer typhoons, earthquakes, plane crash... what else would be next? although i am really very thankful that my family and i, as well as most of my friends are okay and survived the recent calamities, still... it's really very sad and hard to see those people die that way. if the things that transpired may be the signs of the times, then may God bless us all...

hearing this song on NU107 for the first time, led me to think things and blog again. it made me write this entry. for what? nothing. just to think and realize that whenever God may choose to have me, i will not complain. i am more than thankful for all the blessings and love He has surrounded me with to complain. besides, no one really knows how we are all gonna die. even those who are ill can never be really ready when the time comes. so, as for me, i will be wherever God wants me to be till the last of my days... always thankful, always grateful... and greatly loved.
yeah... this song encompasses everything am feeling right now.
am good to go anytime.
well 'am all good to go... as long as i get my death wish not to have a funeral until i get cremated. i want to remain alive....
all those arrows you threw, you threw them away you kept falling in love and then one day when you fell, you fell towards me when you crashed in the clouds, you found me
oh, please don't go... i want you so i can't let go for i lose control
get these left handed lovers out of your way they look hopeful but you, you should not stay if you want me to break down and give you the keys i can do that but i can't let you leave
oh, please don't go... i want you so i can't let go for i lose control
this is my LSS of the moment. i saw a video of the 2nd largest aquarium tank in the world in chico garcia's blog and this was the background music. but i opted to post a different version of that video because i think the sound quality is better.
i don't remember if i ever heard this song before, but i was mesmerized hearing it while watching those sea creatures marvelously swimming their way around a tank, sadly though. they are supposed to be wandering free in the ocean, not encased in glass for our amusement. it made me realize that i should really learn how to dive. so, that will be in my "things to do before i die" list, which also reminded me that i should really make that list. not that am dying though, i just want to make the most out of this lifetime. i believe that there are certain things that we should experience even just once in our lives.
i tried to find an mtv of the song, but sadly i cant find one. there was a live version, but the sound isn't really as nice as the one used in that aquarium video. but to put a face on a great song, there's this video response of the band itself, barcelona, that i found.
i haven't heard the other songs of barcelona. i plan to buy their album soon to find out if their other songs are as good as this one or i hope even better. what makes this song good, for me, is that even if it's short and simple, it's also kinda deep and poetic. nice words coupled with a dramatic melody incite the necessary emotions. oo na, emo na nga kung emo... e basta gusto ko sya! ;p
and yet, another video. this time it's a collection of film clips with the same song as background.
kissing you is not what i had planned and now i'm not so sure just where i stand i wasn't looking for true love but now you're looking at me you're the only one i can think of you're the only one i see
all i need is just a little more time to be sure of what i feel is it all in my mind 'cause it seems so hard to believe that you're all i need
yes it's true we've all been hurt before but it doesn't seem to matter anymore it may be a chance we're taking but it always comes to this if this isn't love we're makin' then i don't know what it is
all i need is just a little more time to be sure of what i feel is it all in my mind 'cause it seems so hard to believe
no stars are out tonight but we're shining our own light and it never felt so right 'cause girl the way i'm feeling it's easy to believe that you're all i need
ahhhh you're all i need oooooh ahhhh
i just heard this song from our radio here in the office. i know that the station plays old and new songs, but i still kinda get surprised hearing old songs, specially those that i always hear and sing to when i was younger. while others may say that this song is cheesy or corny, i actually find it nice. i loved this song back then, and i guess i still do.
listening a while ago to this song, i thought: this is for that one night i thought i made a wrong move. that night when i didn't think but followed how and what i feel. i am just glad things happened the way they did and slowly fell into their rightful places.
sometimes things happen in our lives unexpectedly, and all we have to do is just to go wherever it may lead us... stop rationalizing. who knows? it may be what is really meant for us.
Hey Mom Why didn't you tell me Why didn't you teach me a thing or two You just let me go Out into the World You never thought to share what you knew
So I walked under a bus I got hit by a train Keep falling in love Which is kinda the same I've sunk out at sea Crashed my car, gone insane And it felt so good I want to do it again
Hey Mom Why didn't you warn me Coz about boys is something i should have known They`re like chocolate cake Like cigarettes I know they're bad for me But I just can't leave 'em alone
So I walked under a bus I got hit by a train Keep falling in love Which is kinda the same I've sunk out at sea Crashed my car, gone insane And it felt so good I want to do it again
(AND I WALKED)UNDER A BUS I GOT HIT BY A TRAIN AND IT FEELT SO GOOD AND I WANNA DO IT AGAIN WANNA DO IT AGAIN *HEY EY IEEY* (WANNA DO IT) Oh, felt so good
Hey Mom Since we're talking What was it like when you were young Has the world changed Or is it still the same A man can kill and still be the sweetest love.
So I walked under a bus I got hit by a train Keep falling in love Which is kinda the same I've sunk out at sea Crashed my car, gone insane And it felt so good
So I walked under a bus I got hit by a train Keep falling in love Which is kinda the same I've sunk out at sea Crashed my car, gone insane And it felt so good I want to do it again I want to do it again
i love this song. it is one of the songs i wanted to sing when i still had a band but never was able to. when i hear it, i think about all that i have gone through in love. why is it that after a relationship comes to an end, we vow to ourselves not to go through all that again, only to find ourselves falling in love again? but it doesn't stop there 'cause we also find ourselves hurting all over again, then the relationship eventually comes to an end as well. such a cycle... but then again, it isn't really the falling in love that we don't want to go through again. who doesn't want the flowers in the air, everything's beautiful, all happy feeling? i guess, we all do. it's just the hurting, of course, that no one ever wants to go about again.
this song is different from all that blubber about loving and hurting. it actually says that after all she has gone through in love, she still wants to do it again. such a masochist huh? loving or being in love was even likened to being hit by a train or ran over by a bus. well maybe, it just didn't include that she wants to do it again and again because she doesn't want to stop loving so as to finally find the right person for her.
whatever the writer of this song really means, how many times do we really have to love? how many times do we have to hurt? how many times do we have to make those mistakes over and over again before we find the right one?
oh and when do we know it's the right one? oh well, but that's another story.
mom used to to tell me something like, when you love don't give too much nor too little, but just enough. that puzzled me because it's kinda hard to do. but i guess, as i grew older and more mature, it seems that it's not that hard anymore. i realized that it doesn't have to be taken literally. i interpret it now as just still keeping your head when it comes to love, being level-headed. with all the experiences, i somehow tend not to get too much overwhelmed nor clouded by love anymore. it's easier to think and use my head now that i know better, rather than before when i was just a mere neophyte. though i know that my mom couldn't really protect me from hurts and pains, i am just glad that she is around when i go through difficult times.
though we fall in love and have relationships with different kinds of people, somehow relationship "per se" remains the same. we all go through good, bad, happy, difficult times. we go through rough battles to make the relationship work. we hurdle all the challenges to stay together. we defy every contradiction or situation, conquer all our fears. and so, whoever it is we are with, even if the circumstances are different, it is still being in love.
only tell me that you still want me here when you wander off out there to those hills of dust and hard winds that blow in that dry white ocean alone lost out in the desert you are lost out in the desert
but to stand with you in a ring of fire i'll forget the days gone by i'll protect your body and guard your soul from mirages in your sight
lost out in the desert you are lost out in the desert
if your hopes scatter like the dust across your track i'll be the moon that shines on your path the sun may blind our eyes, i'll pray the skies above for snow to fall on the sahara
just a wish and i will cover your shoulders with veils of silk and gold when the shadows come and darken your heart leaving you with regrets so cold
lost out in the desert you are lost out in the desert
if your hopes scatter like the dust across your track i'll be the moon that shines on your path the sun may blind our eyes, i'll pray the skies above for snow to fall on the sahara
if thats the only place where you can leave your doubts i'll hold you up and be your way out and if we burn away, i'll pray the skies above for snow to fall on the sahara
i was listening to rx93.1 last wednesday when i heard this song again. i haven't heard it for... god knows how many ages ago. and it was really good to be reminded of good ole songs i loved back then. well, i still do love it now. and thanks to the monster radio that i get to be reminded of nice songs of yesteryears. it's just so sad that i haven't really heard that much of anggun lately. or maybe it's just me.... hehe... am not that updated, you know.... :)
many will agree with me when i say that anggun kinda reminds you of our very own grace nono. not just about the looks, but also with the timbre of the voice and over-all style. i remember that i hear other people say the same things when anggun became a hit a few years back.
also, one thing that i so love about this song is the nice poetic lyrics. i don't know if all her songs are like this, since i never had the chance to buy the album (which i vowed to do the moment i first heard this song). if there are still copies available at record bars, i hope i remember to buy one. for now, am gonna try listening to her other songs at youtube.
according to the comments at youtube, where i got the video of this song, the original version of this song is in french. i was surprised 'coz i didn't know that this is originally done in french. and so i listened to it to find out which version is better...
now, i really wish i know how to speak french so i can appreciate it more. nonetheless, i love this version too, even though i don't understand a tad bit of it. :D and i just can't pick one between the two versions. i love 'em both!
another summer day has come and gone away in paris and rome but i wanna go home mmmmmmm
may be surrounded by a million people i still feel all alone i just wanna go home oh, i miss you, you know
and i’ve been keeping all the letters that i wrote to you each one a line or two “i’m fine baby, how are you?” well i would send them but i know that it’s just not enough my words were cold and flat and you deserve more than that
another aeroplane another sunny place i’m lucky, i know but i wanna go home mmmm, i’ve got to go home
let me go home i’m just too far from where you are i wanna come home
and i feel just like i’m living someone else’s life it’s like i just stepped outside when everything was going right and i know just why you could not come along with me 'cause this was not your dream but you always believed in me
another winter day has come and gone away in even paris and rome and i wanna go home let me go home
and i’m surrounded by a million people i still feel all alone oh, let me go home oh, i miss you, you know
let me go home i’ve had my run baby, i’m done i gotta go home let me go home it will all be all right i’ll be home tonight i’m coming back home
sometimes, in life, we just want to go home. not just the literal meaning of it. at times it's more of going home to your own self. we want to be taken away from the busy, stressful world and the pressures of life. we want to find comfort, familiarity, love, rest...
i find myself in that kind of situation every now and then. nobody can be much too strong not to find time to take a pause. i have to have time to be just me as "me" and take even just a short time off from being "me" as daughter, or "me" as niece, or "me" as employee, and everything else there is.
maybe this is also why i love songs that talk about going home or simply just about "home..." i am not really a michael buble fan, but when i heard this song, i just cant help but to like it, love it even. i guess i had, and still continue to have, a few comings and goings in my life that hearing this song instantly touches the deepest part of who i am.
* purple dreams and lavender wishes on your birthday....
i have shown in one of my previous entries my affinity for tori amos. i just read from a certain site that she has recently released a song (yipee!!!), "maybe california," from her new album "abnormally attracted to sin." ya, you read that right! what a title huh? the album will be available in mid-may (yey!).
i was supposed to listen to the song, but sadly, i can't play it on my browser. i duno why... ooh, let me correct that, i just did.... silly me! i cant click on the player, but the link below led me to another site where i can listen to the song. hehe... nice song, as always...
anyhow, pictures on the site prove how tori amos has evolved tremendously as an artist. and it is not just with the type of her songs, as i've mentioned in my previous blog post, but also with how she looks...
no biggie this time, all i wana say is that the first time i heard this song i thought... wow, tori amos ain't that gloomy and nega anymore. hehe... i loved tori amos since i duno when. ooh, i guess since, the "silent all these years" and "cornflake girl" era, which i think was the 90s. back then, her songs are kinda sad and angst driven. but then again, maybe that's just how i exactly was at that time. i was kinda rebellious i guess, being a teener.
i have had only two tori amos albums, "under the pink," which got lost, and "the beekeeper," where this cut is included. i plan to collect all her albums, as i plan for most of the artists i fancy, but i always get sidetracked for a whole lotta reasons. but of course, at times, money is a big issue. since there are just so many artists that i so looooooove.... it's hard to budget to be able to buy them all, not to mention many other priorities.
anywayz... this is one of the songs that i like from "the beekeeper" album. of course, it's part of my so-called "life songs." i've been through much in life, as well as in relationships. i know nothing is perfect but i know my worth. my favorite lines can speak for myself...
"i'm not like the girls that you've known but i believe i'm worth coming home to kiss away night this girl only sleeps with butterflies...."
airplanes take you away again are you flying above where we live then i look up a glare in my eyes are you having regrets about last night i'm not but i like rivers that rush in so then i dove in is there trouble ahead for you the acrobat i won't push you unless you have a net
you say the word you know i will find you or if you need some time i don't mind i don't hold on to the tail of your kite i'm not like the girls that you've known but i believe i'm worth coming home to kiss away night this girl only sleeps with butterflies with butterflies so go on and fly then boy
balloons look good from on the ground i fear with pins and needles around we may fall then stumble upon a carousel it could take us anywhere
i'm not like the girls that you've known but i believe i'm worth coming home to kiss away night this girl only sleeps with butterflies with butterflies with butterflies so go on and fly boy
written by marilyn & alan bergman and michel legrand
so often as i wait for sleep i find myself reciting the words i've said or should have said like scenes that need rewriting the smiles i never answered doors perhaps i should have opened songs forgotten in the morning i relive the roles i've played the tears i may have squandered the many pipers i have paid along the roads i've wandered yet all the time i knew it love was somewhere out there waiting though i may regret a kiss or two if i had changed a single day what went amiss or went astray i may have never found my way to you if i had changed a single day what went amiss or went astray i may have never found my way to you i wouldn't change a thing that happened on my way to you...
on one of the many drinking friday nights at conspi, i, a conspirator-friend, and some others were talking about weddings and wedding songs. my conspirator-friend told me that i should listen to the song "on my way to you." if i remember it right, my friend said that her sister used it on her wedding. am not really that good in song titles, so even if i know a certain song, it doesn't necessarily mean i know the title. i told my friend that i might know the song, i just have to look for and listen to it first to find out. and so a few days after that night, i did. i found out that, yes, i do know the song.... and in fact, love it too. so thanks tinabebe, for reminding me of this great song.
as usual for me, i went looking for the original version of the song, which i believe was sung by barbara streisand. or she might be just the one who's popularly known to sing this song written by marilyn & alan bergman and michel legrand. but sadly, i can't find any online audio or video copy of it. so i just opted to embed in here the nicest versions, in my opinion, from youtube.
it was a very reflective moment when i first listened to the song and a host of its versions, as well as savoring the lyrics. this is definitely one of my lifesongs... it says everything that i've always or recently believed in. i have come to accept the fact that we all have to hurt sometimes... we commmit mistakes, make wrong decisions, and all but those are all part of life. these things mold us to be who we are and ought to be.
i remember one saying that goes something like, God allows us to meet the wrong people because He is preparing us and the person that is truly meant for us. so, we shouldn't blame God nor anybody for the pain we experience. instead, welcome it, accept it, and everything will fall into place.
as i look back on all the things i went through, i just thank God that inspite of everything, am still here. i survived... He, indeed, won't give me anything i cannot bear. i have forgiven all who may have hurt me, one way or another, in the past. i no longer bear any grudges, these things aren't for me to hold in my heart, but should be left and lifted up to God. He knows what's best. God's plan is always the best.
yes, of course it is not easy to get hurt and be in pain. but if not for all those bad things i went through, i won't be as strong and and as wise as i am now. cliche as it may seem, but things really do happen for a reason. i may not know yet all the reasons now, but soon enough i know i will. whatever those reasons are, am sure that God is just taking care of me and putting me in my rightful place.
and to you who has always been there... i know that you aren't a patient person, that's why it still remains a puzzle to me how you are able to still be there. maybe it's meant to be that way? or we're meant? love? devotion? obssession? hehe.... just joking. i don't know... i will never know what the future holds for us just as yet. but i thank you for everything... with all my heart. am truly grateful to have you in my life. as i've said before, despite of all the pains we went through, i wouldn't want to change a single thing that happened, because if i do, i may not ever find my way to you....
since my last song post has nina's version, i decided to post one of her originals. this is the only song of her that i like, since most of her songs/albums are covers anyway. when she was still starting out, the first ever song i heard of her on the radio was "jealous." it did catch my attention coz it has a different sound. although i didn't really like the song entirely, i thought it was a nice song and that this girl got potential. but soon enough, my interest on her kinda waned because she didn't really do much originals. honestly, i prefer her rival, kyla, more.
anyhooo, nina caught my attention again with this song. it's nice in the sense that most of us girls, i guess, can identify with the song. for me, the simplicity of the song made it very effective to the listener. i do hope nina makes more original songs like this one. the same goes to other artists, may they be new or old, who just pick out favorite songs and make it an album. i guess one all-cover album is enough in, say, ten years or why not just add one cover in an album instead of doing an all-cover album? still, it is best to create an all-original album. it is hard, yes of course. but wouldn't it be more fulfilling to produce something you really worked hard for? besides, covers can be reserved for gigs and events. there are still so much songs in the world of ideas just waiting to be created and heard.
someday you'll gonna realize one day you'll see through my eyes but then i won't even be there i'll be happy somewhere even if i cared
i know you dont really see my worth you think you're the last guy on earth well i've got news for you i know i'm not that strong but it won't take long won't take long
coz someday, someone's gonna love me the way, i want you to need me someday, someone's gonna take your place one day i'll forget about you you'll see, i won't even miss you someday, someday
but now i know you can't tell i'm down, and i'm not down anyway but one day these tears they will all run dry i won't have to cry sweet goodbye
coz someday, someone's gonna love me the way, i want you to need me someday, someone's gonna take your place one day i'll forget about you you'll see, i won't even miss you someday, someday
barry manilow has a bunch of songs that pinoys are crazy about. but if i were to choose one, it will be this song. well, i also used to sing "somewhere down the road" or "if i should love again" with the rest of the country though. well, who wouldn't? it was, and still is i guess, like a mantra for the brokenhearted or the national anthem for the lonely hearts club. and even if you aren't part of those groups, you just can't help but to know those songs and sing with it. filipinos, as they say, are natural suckers for love songs. most of us grew-up to these kinda songs playing all the time on the radio, specially if it's a backtrack day, a mellow songs day, or a sunday. as for myself, i seemed to outgrow these mushy love songs as i got older and realized that i don't have to like 'em just because the rest of the world does.
even though growing older made me more individualized or unique, having my own style and taste, i still tend to listen to barry manilow. of course i don't really do that much, but there will always be a song or two that will always let me stop in the middle of whatever am doing and listen.
i don't remember if i was lonely or heartbroken when i first heard "one of these days." but maybe not, 'coz am sure to be much younger then. but anyhow, i guess that's also how i am. i get to like a song, even though it doesn't seem to have any particular connection to my life whatsoever. but then again, at times, it will suddenly have a meaning for me at a much later time. more of like a foreshadowing of some sort. or it can also just remain to be a song i just happen to like, nonetheless.
but i do remember a time when this song just popped on the radio and sent me to deep, deep thoughts with tears welling-up my eyes. and i said to myself, ya, "one of these days" i will be gone and i won't be there just like how i used to and just like how you are used to. till then, you will all see my worth and it will all be too late. ya, ya, i know... drama. but we all do have those "mala-teleserye" monologue moments, we are just too proud to admit them.
one of these days one of these very ordinary days you're gonna call my name and i won't be there after the days after these very, very many days
you're gonna see the light and i won't be there
and on that day somehow i'll find the strength to stay away i won't give in i will not let myself be taken in... again oh no my friend
one of these days out of the blue you'll start remembering and i won't care 'cause i won't be there
oh, and on that day i swear i'll find the strength somehow to stay away i won't give in i will not let myself be taken in... again oh no my friend
that's what i say that's what i tell myself... i won't give in so try it someday and you'll see that i won't be there no, you know, no, i won't
these day-eeya-eeya-eeya-aaa-aays i -- won't be there no, no, no i won't be there...
it's never that often that i hear this song, but each time i do, i can't help but to be teary-eyed. i don't know if it's just because am getting older that's why i easily cry or am really just a crybaby. it can also be just as simple as a reflection of having gone through some things in this life.
anywayz, although i still think that nothing beats the original, am also sharing nina's version of the song.
