GARY GRANADA THANKS GMA NETWORK
In its latest statement, GMA Network finally admits letting the second composer
listen to Gary Granada's study but "only after she had submitted her
own study of the jingle and, therefore, she could not have used Granada’s
study.”

This is a very crucial piece of evidence because it makes you wonder, what is
the point in letting the second composer listen to the study made by the first
composer after approving the study submitted by the second composer? And if you
look very closely, it says “study”, not “final version”. So I have a
very simple question. Which came first:
A. Second composer submits final version; or
B. GMA Network lets second composer listen to Granada's study.
Thank you GMA Network for publicly and officially confirming my claim, despite
saying my claim is a lie. And since you threaten to sue me, I will be more than
happy to see you in court.

GARY GRANADA: OTHER COMPOSER NOT THE ISSUE
Concerning GMA Network’s simple-minded iwas-pusoy position that the issue is
rather between me and a fellow composer, let me reiterate my argument for the
nth time:
GMA Network is the producer and broadcaster of the jingle. They should be
“man enough” as a respectable corporate entity to take professional
corporate responsiblity. Even minuscule organizations have the most basic of
self-respect to say, for instance,
“Our attention has been called regarding such and such.. and we shall look
into the matter seriously and immediately, exhaust all avenues to give all
parties a fair hearing and determine our course of action accordingly.”
For such a huge media organization, surely they could find one scriptwriter who
knows how to write a respectable corporate statement. Again, I find this tack of
Atty. Dick Perez wily and most insulting to our elementary intelligence.
I have no issues whatsoever with the other composer. For all we know, she was
merely following instructions. Much as I don’t like this particular work of
hers, I neither suspect nor presume guilt on her part. Hell, everybody has a bad
hair day, and I also make lousy songs at times. But that is not the issue here.
Again and again, my claim is: GMA Network took advantage of the study I made in
producing the jingle they aired. If that is not clear enough, let me itemize it:
ONE: GMA Network allowed the composer of Procter & Gamble’s 3pid Handog
Edukasyon jingle access to the lyrics as set to music by Gary Granada.
TWO: And quite possibly, GMA Network allowed the composer of Procter &
Gamble’s 3pid Handog Edukasyon jingle access to the recording of the study
made by Gary Granada.

And so, in the spirit of honesty and social accountability, and to facilitate
an intelligent discourse, I challenge GMA Network to a "walang
kinikilingan, walang pinoprotektahan" public forum concerning my claim, and
request the Philippine Daily Inquirer to organize one to be moderated by the
University of the Philippines.

Honest Scrap: 10 Things You Should Know About Me!

1. i am on the way to quit smoking. now, i dont really smoke as much as i used to. i just smoke when i drink, which is once or twice a week.
2. i am more happy with my life now.
3. i actually started to write better when i finished school, rather than when i was still in it. hehe...
4. i dont get to write as much as i want to. not in the self-fulfilling, happy kinda writing anyway... like blogging for instance? :)
5. i used to play the piano. now, i cant even play a complete piano piece... :(
6. if youre very close to me, you know where my passion lies.... in music. i sing, i compose songs, and i would love to play an instrument again someday...
7. like my bff (best friend forever, that is. hehe... i know, i know, corny! ;p), someday i would like to be more active in social/civic groups or activities. as of now, i am a member of KaalagaD, but i havent really done much for them. someday, i hope to do so, not just with them but for others too.
8. surprisingly, i am happy being single and i dont feel any pressure right now.... hehehe.... joking aside, i honestly dont. i am happy with where and what i am. whatever is God's plan for me, i will gladly accept it with open arms. :)
9. i know and feel that i have completely moved on.
10. i dont bear any grudges from my past. i guess thats why i am happier right now than years before. :)
I am passing this award to anyone na lang who wants to answer it. hehe...

Reasons to smile? — mom, my cute na cute na inaanak "tarko," a chat with friends over a cup of coffee or a bottle of beer or a glass of wine (any drinkable liquid will do... hehe), going to the beach, looking forward to some occasions, reunions and travels, eating fries and chicken nuggets over a good movie while lounging on the sofa, stuffed flowers with smiley faces, julius the monkey's face as my pillows at night, oinky poinky the pinky pig, a rabbit from new orleans that loves me, and many, many things... as ive said in my other entry, i have so many reasons to smile about and am thankful for those. :)

smile...
"pinili kong maging masaya dahil mas madaling ngumiti.... kaysa ipaliwanag kung bakit ako malungkot...." (i choose to be happy because it is easier to smile than to explain why i am lonely.)

those were the words printed on a shirt i saw from a pic in a friend's multiply account. and i want to have a shirt like that. it's even colored green, very simple, but it exactly says how i am when am lonely.
as they say, people who have more smiles hide behind the same amount of tears. i guess that goes for many people out there. pinoys are generally happy people. we tend to be joyful amidst all the odds we are in, which is a very good thing. there are only a few people who are transparent with their feelings. most often than not, we tend to hide our true feelings, not because we want to lie but simply because we don't want to talk about it. truly, it's so much easier to smile than to explain why you have a frown on your face and answer endless why?? questions.

because i came in late last night.

because i went out with my friends and got drunk.

and it goes on..... and on..... and on..... and on.......
isn't it tiring to answer so many questions specially when you are not in that chatty- spill-the-beans mood and you don't really want to talk about heavy, dramatic stuff? and so to avoid putting yourself in that uncomfortable Q&A situation, you just smile...

bangles galore and more!
when i was starting with my multiply account, one of my first contacts is baubles, bangles, & beads. this very creative and artistic group was and still is being featured in television and magazines. i dont really remember though if i saw it on tv or read bout it then, but i was really interested in the designs even though i am not really that fond of bangles. so, i added the group up in my contact list. although that was kinda long time ago, it was only in july of this year that i made my first order.
it was very hard for me to choose from the many cool and funky designs. it was also hard to trim down my many choices into just 3 pieces of bangles. what helped me make my decision? well, 2 of those bangles were gifts to friends, so i just thought of what they like. then, the other one was for me. that was kinda hard to decide though coz there were really sooooo many designs that i so fancy... hay.... but anyhow, i just chose the same design with one of the 2 bangles i have already chosen. anywayz, what the heck with all the chenelyn, churva, and eklavu of dilemma... :D theres always next time. hopefully, i will be able to buy every design that i want. hehe.... besides, its not anymore only bangles or beads that i can buy. now, baubles, bangles, & beads also sells the same artistic, hand-made creations in the form of bags and shoeseseses! hehehe....
i am very much satisfied with my bangle purchase. twas really also a very good first time online purchase experience in multiply. its very easy to deal with baubles, bangles, and beads, and that i believe, is because of pao's undeniable charisma. ahehehe! sana naman pao, one of these days e ma-meet ko, hindi lang ikaw, but all of you great people behind baubles, bangles, & beads.
am so looking forward to my next purchase... :)

Prayers and Blood Donation for Francis Magalona

PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) received information earlier today, August 13, that rapper-songwriter Francis Magalona has been diagnosed with leukemia and is currently in need of blood donors.
Pupil band manager and Francis's good friend Day Cabuhat told PEP in a phone interview that any blood type and platelets will be accepted.
"Donations may be made at the lower ground level of The Medical City in the name of Francis Magalona," relayed Day. The Medical City is located along Ortigas Avenue in Pasig City.
Friends and relatives organized a blood donation drive to help the popular singer's cause. They're also asking friends from the media to spread the word regarding Francis's condition to encourage people to turn up and donate blood.
MASTER RAPPER. The son of local matinee idol Pancho Magalona and actress Tita Duran, Francis created his own mark in the entertainment industry as a rapper-performer when he released his debut album, Yo! back in 1990. The said record spawned the massive nationalistic rap hit song "Mga Kababayan," which in effect introduced Pinoy style rap music in the mainstream.
The ‘90s band explosion failed to deter Francis's popularity and significance in the music scene as proven by the number of hit albums and good singles he churned out since Yo! He even collaborated with other artists and most of the time experimented with various sounds and genres so as not to remain stale before the listening public.
Some of his memorable songs include "Mga Praning," "Meron Akong Ano," "Man From Manila," "Cold Summer Nights," "Bahay Yugyugan," "Ito ang Gusto Ko," "Girl Be Mine," and "Kaleidoscope World."
Aside from singing and writing songs, Francis also plunged into hosting. He served first as a VJ for both MTV Philippines and Channel V before joining the country's longest running noontime show Eat Bulaga! as one of the regulars.
Francis was also tapped as one of the judges, along with music maestro Ryan Cayabyab and Pilita Corrales, of Philippine Idol's maiden season in 2006 aired on ABC-5.
He also ventured into photography and music video directing, megging videos for artists such as Sponge Cola, Join the Club, Gloc 9, Shamrock, Join The Club, Pikaso, Death Threat, and Pupil.
Francis is married to Pia Arroyo and their union is blessed with eight children: Unna, Nicolo, Francis Jr., Isabella, Elmo, Arkin, Clara and young actress Maxene Magalona.

Benefit Gigs for Tara Bosch-Santelices

In trying to raise funds for the medical bills of our friend and fellow musician/artist Tara Bosch-Santelices, we have come up with a series of benefit gigs which are intended to also uplift the morale of Tara and her family. As you might already know, Tara was shot in the head during a violent hold-up incident on the morning of her 23rd birthday last Wednesday, August 6. She still lies in a coma at the ICU of Medical City (along Meralco Avenue, Ortigas), while the culprit still runs free.
We ask that you support this endeavor by attending any of the following gigs and spreading the word.
